How to Fix a Black Screen Error When Updating to Windows 10 Version 1903
Sometimes the best way to learn things is figuring them out for yourself. Between us, we have 5 computers and a couple of phones and tablets. Four of the computers are running Windows 10 and 3 of them had been successfully updated to version 1903 with nary a problem. No problem that is until Darcy updated her oldest laptop this morning. That’s when the problem occurred. And you know what they say: Every problem is an opportunity. And it really is.
One of the fastest ways we learn from the day of our birth is by solving problems. If we let other people solve all our problems, we don’t learn as much as we do by trying to solve them ourselves. But no one can know everything, not even Darcy (kidding!). So, we all have to rely on others who have the expertise to help us.
If you update to Windows 10 May 2019 Update (Version 1903) and you get a black screen after signing in, here are the first two things you need to do:
- Don’t panic
- Relax and take a deep breath
The black screen error seems to be one that is one of the more common ones with the Version 1903 update – most people won’t see it, but some people will. We saw it this morning and we worked out a fix and it works well. So, if you update your Windows 10 computer and you get the black screen error after you log in, here’s what do after not panicking and then taking a deep breath.
- Shut down your computer completely – power it off.
- Wait a few minutes.
- Power on your computer.
- If you see an X near the internet connection icon in the lower right-hand corner of the Lock screen, click it and turn your internet connection on.
- Sign in to your PC
- Your problem should be solved.
You can use this method if you get black screens with any Windows 10 update
Also, the black screen error can happen with other updates, including cumulative updates as well. And if they do, You use thes same method to fix black screen issues with them.
