Save Taskbar Space with This Quick Tip

If you’ve been using Windows 11 for any length of time and you’re like us, you probably use the taskbar search often.

If not, you should be; it’s quite useful. To learn more, click here.

One drawback: Windows 11 Taskbar search can take up some precious taskbar space. If you have a taskbar full of shortcuts, it can get a bit messy. Even if you choose “Search icon” instead of “Search box” it still takes up space.

Did you know that pressing the Windows key + S opens a search box, and so does clicking the Start button? Yes, right at the top of your Start menu, there’s a search box that works just like the taskbar search.

So, if you want a little more taskbar space and you use the Taskbar search often, you can remove the taskbar search box or icon and still have the taskbar search at your fingertips.

Here’s how to remove the taskbar search icon or search box from your taskbar:

Open Settings
Click on Personalization
Scroll down and click on Taskbar
Click on the dropdown menu for Search
Select Hide
