If you did a factory restore then it was your fault you lost everything. Windows 10 gives you 30 days to revert back to your previous operating system without losing any thing. 30 days is certainly long enough to find out if you like something or hate it.

I spent $500 on a laptop/tablet with Win10…..I HATE it!!! I haven’t even used it in two months!!! Can’t find a single thing, not only are things moved around they’ve given things a new name!! It isn’t worth anything to me! The only times I’ve used it were with a Dell rep!! That’s the truth!

Not sure what you mean. Control Panel is still control panel, Task Manager is still task manager, Windows Explorer is called File Explorer but it works the same – also a tablet isn’t a laptop or a desktop. It’s made to be use without a mouse – i.e. by touch. If you want to use a mouse, go into Settings and take it out of Tablet Mode and you’ll have a more traditional start menu. One of the best new things in Windows 10 -is “settings” which is like a modern control panel. Most people really like it. Give Windows 10 a chance keeping in mind a tablet is not a a laptop/desktop.

One of my favorite shortcuts is in the taskbar. Right click on an icon in taskbar and up pops all the recently used items. For instance File explorer shows all my recent files. Click on the one I need and go directly to it. Right click on my Outlook program and it is full of options, I can make a quick appointment, create new contact. Chrome shows my latest and most used web sites. Most apps in the task manager have options by right clicking. I think Windows 10 has been the best yet. Fast and sleek.

      Ron,

These are called Jumplists and they’ve been around since Windows 7. We’ll repeat our article on Jumplists – there are very useful especially if you pin your favorite items.

One of my most favorite Windows 10 short cuts is in the task bar. Right click on a icon and you get a list of things for that app. Chrome will show you all of your recent and most used web sites. Right click on Outlook and I can make a new appointment or create a new contact. File explorer has all of my most used files and can go directly to them without opening file explorer and looking for them. Windows 10 is fast and sleek , and the best yet.

I was in 8.1, performed a refresh, lost all my data; had carbonite, it did not reload correctly, Carbonite referred me to a “site” who wanted $90 to “sync” my outlook & publisher and another 200 to complete the task. Windows 10 came along timely with it’s download, and EVERYTHING came back, correctly and in place. I used/use the Windows Secrets tips to make the system suitable to my needs. I really truly like Windows 10; thanks much to Cloudeight and to Windows Secrets.com. You will never like it if you do not take time to study the program, it’s intricacies and the work arounds that make your system conducive to you, as you have done in the past with earlier windows versions, I am sure.

Sorry people but I am loving Windows 10, yes it’s different, technology does move on, but I have to be honest, apart from losing Live Mail, I still have everything else intact from Windows 7, 10 is awesome…Betsy as a PSP user, and a stationary creator I too miss XP, how I would love to see Outlook Express back but realistically that isn’t going to happen so moving on…

Windows Live Mail works fine in Windows 10. Windows Mail works better on 10 than it did on Windows 7 & 8x.

I had Windows 8.1 on one desktop and Windows 7 on another. Windows 8.1 was the first to go to Windows 10. With out a doubt I would do that one again. Now Windows 7 I don’t know. I did put Windows 10 on it. Windows 7 I think was very good. I don’t think it was the new browser Edge that was pushing me in that direction which I’m sorry to still say at this time. One thing Edge did do it pushed me to take Chrome more serious. Now I really like Chrome. Chrome is my default browser. I can’t use a half baked browser. I can’t use something that just draws on web pages and thinks that is major, then give up “save as” and etc…and think that was a good compromise.

As for as other things on Windows 10 I’m at “Setting ” looking around all the time. That is the way you learn. Then have fun with your computer. Once you have your mail going , your homepage up, then just do a little bit every day then back off. Also look at the tips on how they can help you. When a new windows comes out tips are going to be your best friend. Especially pictures so you will know what it looks like when you get there.

We all get frustrated with these things I don’t care how long you have been doing this stuff. Just walk away and come back.
