Plans leaked for Windows 9

Plans leaked for Windows 9Windows 8 wasn’t exactly a runaway success; however, Microsoft’s fortunes might be set to improve with the launch of Windows 9. Exact release details aren’t available just yet, but it is rumored that Windows 9 will be released sometime in 2015; probably April, while other sources state that it will be released in the Fall of 2014.

It is thought that the Windows 9 is going to be released relatively soon because of the poor performance of Windows 8. Windows 8 was supposed to be innovative in that it attempted to bring together desktop and mobile on one platform, but Windows 8 can’t be considered a global success by any means.

Full details of the launch of Windows 9 remain unclear at the time of writing, but some information of the new Windows system have been leaked on the Internet and it seems that there will be some key changes.

First of all, the traditional “start” menu that Microsoft users will be familiar with is set to make a return. Windows 8 was the first Microsoft model to not include the start menu, and its exclusion wasn’t well received by many consumers.

New Features

There is some speculation that the new version of Windows will feature Windows cloud, but this has by no means been confirmed. Cloud storage has become increasingly popular with computer users in recent years as many people now access the Internet from numerous devices so the inclusion of cloud storage would be an obvious move.

Windows Store

According to the screenshots that have been shown on sites such as Myce.com and Neowin, Windows 9 will give computer users their first chance to see the new Windows store.

Apps

Apps have become an important part of people’s everyday lives so it seems fitting that Windows 9 will have plenty of apps to choose from. There is speculation that there will be plenty more apps included in the new version of Windows.

Pricing

As yet there is no information on pricing for the new Windows 9. However, there have been some rumors that Windows 9 might be offered as a free upgrade. It is still not clear whether consumers will be able to upgrade to Windows 9 by buying it as a standalone product.

However, there is likely to be some effort to reduce pricing for this new version as Microsoft needs to compete with the more affordably priced mobile platforms.

Another upgrade coming???? I sure hope its’ free. I only had this computer with Windows 8.1 for 3 months then had to update/upgrade to Windows 8.1 Update 1 and now Windows 9??? I wish Microsoft would guarantee a free upgrade….better yet how about a new Windows XP which was the best ever! Maybe they could call it Windows XP Forever…and bring back Outlook Express.

Would dearly love it if they would bring back XP . I have 2 of them just sitting here collecting dust . Would take win/7 and throw it in the trash . I hate it but loved XP.

It’s been a trial for me. You certainly have given geeks what they want but not people that are average. The largest thing that you eliminated was PrtPge. Of course I know that snipping tool is wonderful for you but page prt handles it in just a couple of steps . When is this ever going to end. I am fearful of what 9 will do to my blood pressure.

A quick way to print and ariticle or page is to highlight it, right click and click print. Works for me.

If it is working leave it alone and that is what they should have done with Outlook Express. Nothing has come close to that wonderful program. If Microsoft is thinking a bout Windows Nine how about they think about incorporating XP/Outlook Express features and let them see just how much revenue they have been losing over the years.

    I’ve been w/ Microsoft since Win 3.14, Win 95, Win XP & Win 7.
I have Win 8.1 on a second PC, and not pleased with it.
I understand that users are changing due to iPads & Smart Phones and that is where Microsoft has to go.
I use my iPad & Smart Phone daily, but still a PC person.
I doubt Microsoft can deliver and thinking of switching to a Mac.
Win 9 should be a free upgrade. If not, good-bye!
    Any suggestions are welcome.

I’m an XP lover, too–Microsoft had the clear winner with that! I’d think they’d want to listen to all of us out here! If the “new 9″ was the upgrade” WINDOWS XP-2014, I’D RUN OUT TO BUY IT IN A FLASH!
Hey, Microsoft–CAN YOU HEAR US NOW???

I agree, Love Windows XP, Grown to like Windows 7. Still not quite the Wonderful XP! If they come out with something like XP in Windows 9,be the First One there. I’m sure Everyone feels the same. But like you said, Money is where it’s at!

Unless there are no alternatives I will still keep my mail on the hard drive where it belongs . Of course I do know that it is still stuck on the cloud but I don’t notice it so much with the hard drive based mail program I use,. I just think back and know that the ISP had my mail on a server and I look at gmail as my server now . my program (thunderbird) feels like outlook but with a few tweaks it could be just like it . I can make my own stationary and use Cloudeight also.
