Analyze Disk Space Usage With Windows 10 Disk Analyzer

Windows 10 has a disk space analyzer that is far more useful than anything in any previous versions of Windows. With Windows 10 “Storage” (in Settings) you can analyze your drive usage and see what kind of files are taking up the most space on your drive.

To open “Storage” click the start button, then settings, then System and click on “Storage” in the left pane – or type Storage in the taskbar search. Click on the drive you want to analyze to get a complete breakdown of what is using the most drive space.

Above: Settings —> System —> Storage

Above: Windows 10 Storage. Click on the drive you want to analyze…

Above: Windows 10 shows you how your disk space is being use and what is using the most drive space.

Windows 10 Storage also allows you to set defaults for where you want different types of files stored (Docs, Pictures, Music, etc.) IF you have more than one hard drive or an external drive that is always plugged in.

Another Windows non-feature that does absolutely nothing. There is a never a case where I’m analyzing storage, and what I want to know is the percentage of the drive taken up by “apps and games” or whatever.

Linux has had many versions of true storage analysis for 40 years, and Windows still can’t figure out what people want and need.

Yes and that’s why Linux is so much more popular than Windows, Apple, and Android right? I think some people use Linux just to impress other that they use Linux. I was not impressed with Linux. If Linux were so wonderful, then where are the Linux-powered cellphones? How did Android become the most popular operating system in the world, when it’s 2 decade or more older than Android. If Linux is so good, why don’t more people use it. They give it away, so it sure isn’t because it’s so expensive.

It’s funny that you denigrate Windows… but to each his/her own… right?

Android uses the Linux kernel, mate. Just thought you should know.

Thanks, but I don’t know what it has to do the article though. It’s really nice that Android developers modified the Linux kernel; sure saved them a lot of time. Maybe Linux should have done what Android did and then maybe more people would actually use it.
