How to Minimize the Windows 10 File Explorer Ribbon

The Windows 10 File Explorer Ribbon gives you a lot of choices and options, but it also takes up more than its share of screen real estate. But did you know you can hide the ribbon and then bring it back quickly and easily?

Here’s how…

Open File Explorer. On the title bar, locate the small “down arrow” icon, then click it and click on “Minimize the Ribbon”. See the screenshot below.

Notice, now, the Ribbon is minimized.

To bring the Ribbon back, click the down-arrow icon again and remove the checkmark from “Minimize the ribbon” by clicking on it

And the Ribbon’s back again.

Well — sometimes you feel like a ribbon and sometimes you don’t!

    The little arrow near the top RHS corner of the File Explorer window, next to the question mark, does the same, in one click.
