On your current PC, you can restore files from File History backup on your external drive, this way:
- Update & security
- Select Backup
- Select More options
- Scroll down to the bottom of the window, and choose “Restore files from a current backup”.
You can also use Control Panel:
- Open Control Panel (Windows Key + X and click Control Panel)
- System and Security
- File History
- Restore personal files
If you have File History backups that were created on different Windows 10 computer, all you have to do is set up File History (Windows 10) on the new computer , then select the drive containing your File History backups from the other computer. They’ll automatically appear in the “Restore Files: dialog so you can restore files just as you would if the backup were created on the current PC.
