The new “Chrome-plated Edge

Speaking of Microsoft browsers, Microsoft Edge is on the way to the graveyard; and will be reincarnated as a Chromium-based browser. This means Edge will be based on the same foundation as Google Chrome.

If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em right?

And for those who don’t like Chrome or Google in general, you’ll be happy to know you’ll be able to use most Chrome extensions in the new Chromium-based Edge.

But it looks like we’re all going to have to wait a while before we can get our hands on he new Microsoft Edge browser.  Based on the current pace of development, it may be quite some some time before Microsoft releases the “new” Microsoft Edge to the public.

Firefox, Opera, Edge, Chrome, Vivaldi, Waterfox, Pale Moon, Chromium, etc. are all modern browser, none of them have anything to do with Internet Explorer.

While warning about Google originated or endorsed products, don’t forget “Hotspot Shield”. I somehow acquired this on my brand new, high spec W10 (1809) and it caused me all sorts of grief until I got rid of it!

HOTSPOT SHIELD is not a Google product. It’s a Chrome extension but it’s not made or endorsed by Google. In fact it’s just one of many supposedly “Free” browser-based VPNs. Most people don’t need a VPN anyway.
