The wording in the announcement sounds like they are going to automatically update Windows 7 customers to IE11 —- whether they want to updated or not? Surely we have some say in the matter?

You don’t have to update to 11. Make sure you have unchecked the box that says ‘update automatically “. Go to help..about internet explorer..& the box is there that you can check or uncheck.

Yes they will. BUT ONLY if you have “auto updates” turned on. I turned “auto updates” OFF a loooong time ago. Now they only notify me when updates are ready to download. That way I can see what they are and UNCHECK what I don’t want. Too bad you have to wait each time to find out what the “current” bungled update(s) are. That takes a few days.

You do have a say in the matter as to whether or not you want to download IE11 or not. Check your most recent Windows updates and you will most likely see it there along with the rest of them. If there is a “check” in that box, just take it out and it will not download automatically. It will be entirely up to you when and if you want to download it into your computer or not.

I updated to IE 11 and ended up doing a system restore. It would freeze and just shut down. I’m running windows 7. I would wait on this until all the bugs are worked out.
