A New Chrome Problem

We have been getting a lot of reports about a problem with Google Chrome. Recently, many people have been opening Chrome as they always do, but instead of the familiar Chrome browser window with their start pages(s) and bookmarks, they find a find a strange looking window with several options.

Here’s the window that opens instead of the normal Chrome browser window:

If you see this window, it’s important that you click on the black rectangle in the center with the word “You” on it. Don’t click “Browse as Guest” or “Add person”.

Once you click “You” , Chrome will open as it usually does. Not everyone is seeing this problem, but if you do, you’ll know what to do.

Hoo-boy! I fooled them. I knew it was me all along and that this was some kind of an IQ test.

    Hi TC & EB,
Very interesting but unseen to date.

Have you seen the “Google” thank you appear when opening Google.

I had that happening back in November as it was very annoying. I am one that does a lot of googling and so I contacted you folks and was advised to uninstall Chrome which I did. It is still uninstalled. Have thought about reinstalling, but now I see this , maybe I should leave well enough alone.

This is not a danger it’s just an inconvenience. I believe we recommended that you completely uninstall, reboot and reinstall Chrome.

This is an old scam that’s been around for years and years. It’s the old “You’ve won a free ———-” fill in the blank scam. Nothing new just except the “prizes’. Steer clear as this has nothing to do with Google or Chrome.

I am still having problems with chrome. I did everything you advised, uninstall, reboot, reinstall, and everything else. It still spins and times out. Edge is the only thing that doesn’t have any problems. I would like to find the problem, I have completely messed up my computer trying to find a solution. I tried to schedule another repair session, it asks for a pin # that I can’t find.
