A Reminder!

A Reminder!

Gotcha! You thought we were going to remind you of something, like making a donation or sending a message to bikini-clad Darcy on her Super Yacht (now off the coast of Barbados) – reminding her to come back to the office and help TC run this magnificent enterprise.

But Nooooo!

We’re going to show you why you don’t need no stinkin’ app or calendar to remind yourself of things. If you have a Gmail account, use Gmail’s “Schedule Send” feature. It’s quick and easy and works great, especially for those of us who check our email at least once a day.

For Example

I’ve got several paid streaming apps provided free with my Cable TV subscription. I get Paramount Plus, Peacock, Disney, Hulu, AMC+, and a couple more streaming apps free. Well, not really free; Spectrum’s TV is not cheap. Anyway, I don’t have an Apple TV subscription. However, there was something I wanted to watch on Apple TV, so I subscribed with the intention of canceling it before it automatically renews and before I get charged another $12.99 monthly fee.

I’m old. I’d never remember to cancel this subscription until after it renewed on April 27, 2026. I’d be charged another $13. So, being the minimalist that I am, I don’t like installing apps and programs unless I really (really!) need them. So, instead of using a reminder app or a calendar, I use Gmail’s “Schedule send” feature to send me reminders when I need them.

If you need to be reminded to make a payment, cancel a subscription, go get a tooth yanked, have your head examined, get yourself a pedicure, or any number of things you might need to do, you might be interested to know you can use Gmail’s “Schedule send” to write reminders to yourself and have them delivered on any day, at any time you choose.

Here’s how to use Gmail’s “Schedule send” feature to remind you of things you need to remember.

First, open Gmail and type your reminder email and address it to yourself (DUH!)…

After you’ve composed your reminder email, click the little triangle on the Send button…

Enter the date and time you want the email sent to you and click on the “Schedule send” button. Like this:

How to Check the Emails You Have Scheduled to Send

If you want to check or cancel any of the emails you have scheduled to send, you can do that at any time.

On a Computer: Look at the left-hand menu where your “Inbox,” “Sent,” and “Drafts” are located. Click on the folder labeled Scheduled.

On a Mobile Device: Tap the “three-line” menu icon (the hamburger menu) in the top-left corner, then scroll down and tap Scheduled.

Once you are in that folder, you can click or tap on any message to read it. If you need to make changes, you’ll see an option to Cancel send. This will turn the email back into a draft so you can edit the text or change the time.

That’s it, my friends. On the date and time you requested, you’ll receive the reminder in your Gmail account. Assuming you check your Gmail account at least once a day, you should not miss your payment, subscription cancellation date, appointment, or whatever else you need to be reminded of.

And you can do this with any Gmail account you have. How about that!
