How Does Your Browser Measure Up?

What’s the fastest browser? As with all things on the Internet, misinformation abounds. There’s only one sure way of testing how fast a browser is — that is by testing it and putting it through its paces.

And there exists a site that lets you put your favorite browser through its paces. Do you have ten to fifteen minutes to spare? Do you have more than one browser installed? If so then test your favorite browser against another browser. At the end of the test you might be surprised. If your default browser is slower than your secondary browser — maybe it’s time to stop clinging to what you’re used to and go for the best and fastest possible Web experience. I’m just sayin’.

The sight is called Peacekeeper ( http://peacekeeper.futuremark.com/ ) and it was created specifically to test your browser’s speed. Facts are facts. This site gives you just the facts, ma’am (or sir). They also offer a battery tester – in case you want to test your laptop, phone or table battery. We didn’t do the battery test, so you’re on your own.

Here’s what the people of Peacemaker have to say. They can explain what they do and why they do it better than I can (yes you can laugh now):

“Which is the fastest browser? Which is the best browser for you? Find out with Peacekeeper, the free universal browser test from Futuremark.

Peacekeeper is a free and fast browser test that measures a browser’s speed. If you use social networks like Facebook or Twitter, watch online video on YouTube, enjoy online shopping on Amazon or eBay, or just like reading news and blogs then switching to a faster browser could give you a smoother and more enjoyable browsing experience.

Peacekeeper works with desktop PCs, notebooks, netbooks, tablets, smartphones and many other devices. It works with Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS and other operating systems. If it has a browser, you can test it with Peacekeeper.

If you’re interested in how Peacekeeper works read our FAQ, or to get started, click on the “Test your Browser” button now. To test your devices battery life, try our run battery test.”

I tested three of my four browsers (yes I’m crazy – I have IE10, Chrome, Firefox, and Opera). The proof is in the pudding. Chrome is fastest – at least on my PC.

So maybe it’s time you tested your favorite browser against another browser.

This test works for PCs, Laptops, and some smart phones and tablets

Peacekeeper did not work for me. It got as far as 4 min. left and just stayed there. The Peacekeeper part of the screen was black.

I had a problem more than once with less than a minute left on the test. It would get so far then give a message that said an error occurred. Seems a waste of my time and usage since I have to pay forall of my internet usage.
An error occurred during your benchmark run. Likely causes for this are

Hitting back/forward/reload during the benchmark run
Network connectivity issues during benchmark run
    Issues with the Peacekeeper server

This should be a temporary error, so please try again in a bit and make sure cookies are enabled.
