Unchecky checks to make sure you don’t leave sneakware checkboxes checked

uncheckyWindows users, more than anyone else are targets for sneaky installers that add unwanted programs to your computer, and hijacking toolbars to your browsers. If you keep installing bundled sneakware, your computer will become erratic and start becoming unresponsive — and if you let it go on and on, it will start doing odd things — and finally if you install enough sneakware — you’ll end up re-installing Windows.

Unchecky isn’t an antimalware, antivirus, or antispyware. Let’s just say it watches your back. It makes sure that sneakware boxes are unchecked if they’re checked — although it does give you the open to re-check them…let’s say if you’re a masochist, for example

So think of Unchecky as a friend who watches your back. You’ll still need a good antimalware and antivirus, but Unchecky is a great program that can help you keep some of the unwanted software from installing on your computer in the first place.

Does it work 100%? Nope. But it does work most of the time. Are you better off with Unchecky than without? Indeed you are. Keep; in mind that Unchecky is a work in progress and it’s not perfect. But even if it prevents you from unknowingly installing most of the unwanted software you’re sure to encounter. If you download freeware, that makes it worth having.

Here’s a little snippet from Unchecky:

Tired of unchecking unrelated offers while installing software?

Have you ever felt, while installing software, that the installer tries to push additional unwanted programs at all cost? Ever missed a checkbox, and spent hours afterwards removing adware? Ever opened your browser after an installation, only to find out that you have a new homepage, a new search engine, or even a new browser? Unchecky aims to keep potentially unwanted programs out of your computer.

We’re always looking out for things to help you keep your computer running well and keep you safe. While no software program can possibly protect your computer 100% of the time from 100% of the threats you’ll encounter online, Unchecky can help you keep sneaky software off of your computer.

Did I somehow miss the link for Unchecky? I clicked on the one you gave at the end of the article but there wasn’t anything that I could see on the site to download. I see all kinds of other downloads but not for Unchecky.

I’m sure it’s just me, so if you could direct me to the correct link, I’d be grateful.

    Thanks…love you guys!!

I had absolutely no problem. I think you have must have clicked on the wrong link,
but I can’t imagine how you did that. The link is in the last line of the article. NEVER
CLICK on a link before, after, or next to the article itself. TC/EB ALWAYS put their
      links WITHIN the article itself.
THERE IS ONLY ONE DOWNLOAD BUTTON on the unchecky site. It’s a big one.

Thank you, Muriel. That was the link I was referring to at the end of the article. And this time I used your link. I DID see the big golden download button….but only for a flash. By the time the site finished uploading it was gone. Nowhere to be seen!

Not sure what to make of that….but I tried it several times and got the same results.

And thank you, too, for the advice. I am always very careful of what buttons I push….LOL…no pun intended! If only my brother were as careful then maybe I wouldn’t spend so much of my time trying to keep his laptop running. I felt like someone was spying on me and heard me sputtering and the next thing along comes Unchecky…I know it was made just for him!

I’ll have to call him and see what happens when he gets on the site. I sent him the link, but when I couldn’t find the download button I wrote and told him to hold off until I found out what was wrong. So, maybe the problem is just mine, and it will work for him!

        Thanks again, pb

Sorry about that, pb. Sounds like the problem will continue to be a mystery until you can talk to
someone more knowledgeable than me. At least you know it wasn’t your fault. Good Luck.

You are right. This little program does warn you and that’s the best part,
especially when you’re in a hurry, or having a “bad” day. The only thing I can
add is to ALWAYS READ CAREFULLY. I once almost got caught by a trick. Don’t remember
the exact words, but it said something like. “CHECK if you DO NOT want “whatever”
included in your download. We get in the habit of “unchecking” and then whammy
some creep puts a sneaky reverse on you.
