You could if you really want to – it’s warm there and winter is coming to all of us in the Northern Hemisphere, so it may be a good escape.

On the other hand, if you’re good at interference, like me, you can infer that Microsoft will make Windows 9 free to all Windows 8.x users, since Windows 8.x was surely something Microsoft would love you to forget. And that being said, there is even a chance Microsoft will drop the numbers after Windows or even use a brand new name. That’s how much damage was done to the Windows brand by the Windows 8.x debacle.

And all of you Windows 8.x users, don’t be upset. I’m not cutting Windows 8.x down nor am I afraid to learn new things. I know a lot about Windows 8.x and I can use it when I choose. However, I have chosen to use Windows 7 because it’s far more geared to productivity than Windows 8.x – at least as far as I’m concerned. If any of you out there reading this love Windows 8.x – that’s wonderful I and Microsoft are glad you are. However the masses don’t agree with you; Windows 8.x is the worst selling Windows since that masterpiece
      Windows ME.

We all have a lot of hope that Microsoft will get it right this time.

Oh and if you’re still clinging to Windows XP or Windows 7 — like I am, even though I have a Windows 8.x computer too – it appears that Microsoft will make Windows 9 (or whatever they decide to call it) available to you for just a mere pittance — at least during the introductory period – whenever that is. Sometime in 2015 is the guess.

Are they going to give us Outlook Express or any decent kind of mail program? Do they realize how many people miss that?

Really doubt it. It does not look like Windows 10 has any different mail app than Windows 8.x

You won’t be able to upgrade in October; it will be a preview (beta) release. If you install it you’ll lose everything that’s not backed up when the trial expires when the operating system has been officially released. The official release date is not set yet — the guess it will be sometime in the spring of 2015.

I prefer Windows 7 as well. 8 has ALL these apps which I am afraid to delete in case it messes up my computer. Will the upgrade be for windows 8.1 as well? And will it be much different from 8.1?

When we say Windows 8.x the x means all versions of Windows 8 including Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 8.1 update 1 and Windows 8.2 (not yet released). So you’re covered.

Will the great ones(TC/EB)be able to put WinMail on the new machines? Or will there be a standalone email client similar to OE/WM on the new upgrade or the new Win9 OS?

Don’t think we’re ever going to see Outlook Express or Windows Mail. Windows Mail no longer works correctly on Windows 7 or Windows 8. Really doubt it will work on Windows 10. Looks like the useless Mail App is here to stay. But miracles to happen. Keep your fingers crossed.

Guess we will just have to wait and see. I use the Windows 7 interface on my Windows 8 system and have become used to that
