While searching for the perfect start button replacement for Windows 8, I have tried them all and nothing was quite what I wanted. Some were not free, some were bundled with malware and some were buggy. Then I found Pokki. Yeah, I know, it’s kind of an odd name, but it is a great program that not only adds start button functionality go Window 8, it adds a lot more too.
You can add the programs you use most to the start menu on Pokki, just like you could on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. While the new Metro-style interface on Windows 8 lends itself perfectly to touchscreen PC, tablets and phone, it’s no friend to those who use a keyboard and a mouse. With Pokki you get a start button back that give you control over your computer and actually adds functionality.
From Pokki’s own app store, you can add apps to your Windows 7 and Windows 8 PC – like Angry Birds, Pandora, GMail Lite, Google Calendar and many more. Most apps are free.
Here’s a screen shot and some word from Pokki’s developers for you.

This is beginning to make Windows 8 sound just a LITTLE bit more interesting!! Dave.
I’ve been a loyal subscriber to Cloudeight for years and will continue to be. I trust all of your recommendations. I downloaded Pokki and started scanning the apps available. I came across one app that is “The Daily reading of the Quran”. NOPE! I cranked up Revo Uninstaller and got rid of it. I will have no contact with any program that has Islamic content to it as they kill innocent people and our military around the world. I know you guys didn’t have anything to do with it but I wanted you to be aware. Thanks for your continued excellent job and help you provide us dummy PC users!
We do not base our recommendations on religious or political grounds. There are hundreds of apps available — and you can download none, one, ten or all of them.
You cannot assume Pokki is promoting something because of one app available in its store. Would you not shop at Wal-mart if they sold a similar item?
