A Sunday Update from TC
First, I can’t thank you enough for all the prayers, good wishes, and support that you’ve sent my way; you’ve made the long road to recovery a lot more pleasant and a lot easier.
After 2 months of being hospitalized for several serious conditions and illnesses, I am amazed at how much strength I’ve lost. Walking five miles a day a couple of years ago was less of a challenge than walking to the bathroom is today. It’s taken me by surprise. I never thought about things like this before, and I can tell you that I have a lot more empathy for those who have suffered long illnesses and hospitalizations, as well as those who are handicapped. I can sympathize with you; I understand the challenges you face every day and wish you all the best. It’s not easy; it’s a struggle, but sometimes challenges have a way of making us stronger even if we don’t always realize it.
I promised you an update, so here it is.
I continue to receive daily antibiotic infusions at home with a strong IV antibiotic to help my body fight a blood infection and what is left of pneumonia that led to cardiac arrest. I will continue to receive these infusions for two more weeks.
I’ve completed an intensive inpatient rehab, and I’m now receiving personalized physical therapy at home.
It is getting easier for me to do the things I used to do (and love), like writing newsletter articles, tips and tricks, and answering your computer questions. I tire more quickly, and my stamina isn’t what it used to be. But every day I get a little better. As my therapists and doctors tell me: “Don’t think in terms of days; think in terms of weeks and months, otherwise you’ll be disappointed.”
So, I am trying to focus on the road ahead and take things as they come. Taking one day at a time, counting the many blessings I receive each day.
In the meantime, I’ll be here to answer your questions, and I’ll be slowly getting back to normal, writing newsletters and answering your computer questions.
Again, thank you, my friends, for your good wishes, prayers, and continued support. You’re all helping shorten the road to recovery. I very much appreciate it!

I am glad you are slowly getting better. Continue to pace yourself. You will recover. It does take time. So take care.
So good to hear from you, Yes, you will get better, It just takes time,,a lolt of it. I know what you you mean about the challenges,. I had a sholder replacement in 2019 and about 7 weeks later had a widow maker heart attack. The Good Lord still wants me here! It does take a lot of strength out of you. My mind was so foggy, Thought that was it but now I am in transport chair and walker and doing great. So do not get discouraged. do you pt and just as uou said one day at a time. In a few months you will be amazed, Have missed you so glad you are back. The Lord needs you here on earth,Take care

Your health care people are right – don’t look for improvements on a day to day basis. Please don’t push yourself too hard and expect too much too soon, that can only lead to discouragement. We’ll be here waiting for you, appreciating what you can give us when you can.

Me again, Got to thinking about what I wrote and missed the point, I have arthtist and cannot walk..so the chair, I live alone in my home. Go out to lunch..shopping .The chair doesn’t stop me. Take it one day at a time. Slow and steady wins the race!!
God has gotten you trough this far and He will continue to do so. Just pace yourself and take care of yourself please!!
Just continue to go slowly, take breaks, rest and whatever else the doctors or physical therapists want you to do. You’ve been through a lot, and it will be a slow and steady road back. You’ll do it but remember we’re not in our twenties anymore so it will take a bit longer TC, but you’ll get there.

Thank you for the update, TC. You are so missed. Listen to your doctor’s and please take the time your body needs to heal and restore itself.
Great News TC one day, week or month at a time.
Such good news TC. Keep up the good work.
Praise the Lord for His mighty healing touch. I’ll keep praying. Take care and do as your doctor tells you. We have missed you. Big hugs
Great news to read you are increasingly progressing, yes adjustments are a pest to make but improvement is the goal no matter how slow. I thought I was done for 8 years ago but still plodding along ok. Always sending best wishes to you from Australia.
Continue to keep your positive attitude TC. That will help you heal as well. We are all praying for your improvement each and every day!
Hi TC, I am so glad you are improving.
A quote from our P T facility.
“Some people get disappointed at slow progress, BUT, it IS Progress”
This quote has helped me in my endeavor to get out of pain.
Take care, my prayers are with you.
Thank you for the update. You have really been through a lot. You have also been missed very much. As much as we’d all love to see you back (yesterday!) at full steam, what you’ve been through and are still dealing with can’t be overcome in a few short weeks. We will be here however long it takes. I’ve been with you and Darcy since 1998 (99?), and I’m not planning on going anywhere unless the Lord calls me home. I look forward to seeing you overcome each step until you are 99% again (I never say 100% to those of us who are over 70)! 😉
So glad to hear an update from you and to hear you are improving. Just take your time do as the doctors and therapist tell you nice and slow is the answer.
I know what it’s like in 2021 I got colon cancer and in 2024 I got lung cancer it was hard but worth the fight, life is very precious I thank God everyday that I’m here. Take good care of yourself and in time you will feel yourself getting better. My prayers are with you.
Very glad to hear you are back, TC. You went through quite an ordeal – well, really you are still going through it. Glad that you are getting better and stronger. It’s shocking how quickly illness can take our strength. One of my friends tells me, “Don’t let your head write checks that your body can’t cash.” Prayers and best wishes from Canada.
TC,
I thank our Lord for His promise of restoration and wholeness.
May His healing touch continue to work miracles in your life.
It is probably good to be home with family. Between the love
of the Lord and the love of family, the time will fly by.
Just keep on doing your best for yourself as you always do for
us.
Thanks for letting us know how you are doing.
Susan

Dear T.C. So pleased to hear that you are now on your way to recovery. Rome was not built in a day so , one step at a time, one day at a time. I am sure that all your faithful follwers will be taking this journey with you and help you to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck and thank you for the updates as it is also a blessing for us to know that you are now on the way up.
Kindest regards,
Maggie (New Zealand).
Hi TC, wonderful news that you are home at last, I know you have a ways to go but with family and friends to help with their love and support. the going will be easier. Just take it easy, a day at a time, don’t be like a bull at a gate trying to get life back as you know (or remember it) Things just take a lot longer to heal when your older.
Very best wishes to you and again a big thank you to Darcy for keeping us up to date on your progress.
Hey TC,
Trying again to post to tell you how glad I am to hear you are continuing to improve but am having some trouble.
Hope to get this figured out but I am sure if I can’t make it better I can make it much worse.
Just hang in there and take it slow and easy as you have been advised to do.
Oh my gosh TC, I’m so happy you’re on the road to recovery. Take your time to heal and gently ease back into the things you love doing. I look forward to you getting back to writing the newsletter and answering our questions. Be well and God bless you
Great news to hear. We knew you could do it.
Thank you for the update.Sending prayers that you get stronger every day. 🙏😊🙏
EVERY heartbeat is a miracle and EVERY moment is a gift. He has brought you this far, just have a heart full of thanksgiving for each day He wakes you up with more strength and vitality than the day before. One day at a time, you’ll get to feeling your ole self again. Our prayers continue for you TC!
TC, you have been so patient with me and my email problems over the years so please be patient with yourself as you recover. Prayers continue for you.
There is an ancient Chinese saying … “A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.” Just takes every day one step at a time. Listen to the docs and therapists, and do what they say. This ain’t their first rodeo. 🙂 As someone who has had to change how and what I do, I understand how hard it is to realize that I’m not as young as I used to be, and if I want to keep getting older, I have to change and modify. It’s not easy, but sometimes it’s necessary. I’m glad to hear you’re doing better. Hang in there. 🙂
Keep movoing forward one day one minute at a time. You will get there. We all miss you.
Hi, TC, you old dog!
I read all the messages sent to you and am amazed at your female following. You are VERY popular, I now understand why you’re in such a hurry to be back to normal!
I just celebrated 83 and have realized, for a while now, that things I used to do without a care are now requiring more time during and after the effort. We men sometimes take time to realize what the score is.
So, take the time and make the effort to get back to normal, we miss you and your output on our behalf.
Looking forward to that day.
Best wishes,

All the best TC, you will get there, but it takes time. If you are tired, rest or sleep. Rushing it won’t make it happen faster, but could set you back some. Prayers for you that all goes well and you continue to heal at a steady rate. I appreciate all you and Darcy have done for us and continue to do.
It sounds like things are headed in a positive direction! So happy for you. Please take good care of yourself. Continued prayers for a full recovery.
You are in my daily prayers…so glad you are home and on the road to a complete recovery.
It is an amazing thing this recovery business. Be strong, be diligent and trust that all
your hard work on recovering will be a wonderment of good health again.
You have been missed .
A time ago there was a rogue, but pretty, sorrel Quarter Horse mare that decided it would be a great idea to rear up and see how high she could fly. Not intending to, she lost her balance and flipped over backwards, crashing back to earth… with me in the saddle. Nobody expected I would live; but after 3 punishing months in 2 hospitals, prayers, lots of personal introspection, and the loss of an entire summer I did survive. It was then that my extended time of arduous and painful recovery began. One day at a time was my goal, today and tomorrow. My 5 dogs needed me daily, and I was determined (stubborn) to be there for them. So, when you, TC, share your current challenges with us, how exceptionally well I understand. Let me do my best to encourage you. Fight on! One day at a time is a good race to run. My sincere prayers are for you constantly.
Hi Tc. I can appreciate your suffering and hope you have a speedy recovery. I do know what it is like. I lost my wife of 60 years marriage through Pneumonia and heart failure 8 years ago and spent a week living in the hospital with her while they tried to save her. I am so pleased that you are on the way to recovery. it is a terrible illness.
Best Wishs Norris K.
Hang in there TC. Wishing you a continued recovery.
Wishing you a speedy recovery. That was a hard place to be. Don’t forget to deep breathe and cough to keep those lungs clear. This is a retired nurse speaking. Each day will get better despite a set back or two. But you can do this. You have a lot of people urging you forward and support. Take care.
Hi T.C.,
Thank you for your Health Update and I wish you a very speedy recovery.
You hve had a tough time of it, so take things steady and get fully well again soonest.
Take care, be careful and stay safe.
Best Wishes and Regrads,
Ron (U.K.)
TC, you are a wonderful person. I am happy that you are back home and getting better. I have been saying prayers for you and am glad to hear from you. Take care and so glad to hear from you.
Hi TC – slow & steady should be your new mantra. I have been in your situation & know how frustrating it really is!
In 2000 I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis & was put into a wheelchair because I couldn’t walk. It took my job away (FF/PM, college instructor, helicopter medic) to name a few. I was getting daily IV infusions of steroids They sent me to physical therapy The physical therapist looked at me & said, “there’s nothing we can do for you. You will be in that wheelchair for the rest of your life.”
That pissed me off & I started trying to do it myself. After 2 years of broken ribs, sprains & bruises, I got myself walking on a walker, the next year I was using a cane. It was tough but the key is never give up & do it slow & easy.
My prayers are with you & I can even give you some of my stubborness if you need it! LOL Yes I was a lot younger then but after a hospitalization lasy year where I almost died, & put me back on a walker, I’m still fighting.
Keep fighting TC, If I can do it all these years & now at age 75, you can to!
Dear TC and Darcy. Please don’t rush too fast, slow and easy wins the race. Prayers for a complete recovery.
Your friend, Mary Cline
HI TC, Glad you are on the mend. It’s been a long uphill battle for you and you’ve had and still have many prayers being sent your way and up above as well. Hugs C
Great news TC, thank you for the update!!! Take it one day at a time.
