The End of the Control Panel is Coming – but Its End is Not Near.
In Windows 10, and to a greater extent in Windows 11, many control panel items have been moved to the Settings app. These include:
Ease of Access settings
Time & Language settings
Update & Security settings
And coming soon via a Windows update for Windows 11, “Programs and Features” will be moved to “Settings > Apps > Installed apps”. And instead of going to Control Panel to remove programs, you’ll go to “Settings > Apps > Installed apps” to uninstall programs/apps.
Note that not all Control Panel items have been moved to the Settings app in Windows 10 and/or Windows 11. Many are still available in the Control Panel and some are in both places, at least for the time being.
Microsoft will eventually remove the Control Panel from Windows – but when is the big question. And remember, when you click on some items in the Control Panel, you’ll be redirected to the Settings app.
The end of the Control Panel is coming – but its end is not near.
