Another Way You Can Try To Fix Internet Explorer

By | March 24, 2014

James has a problem with Internet Explorer
My question is about my Internet Explorer. When I go onto the Internet this thing pops up (Internet Explorer has stopped working) Then I get this note: A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. Then I have to go to the Internet Explorer (64-bit) to get back on line. I have tried to run Troubleshooting and Hardware Diagnostic Tools, I just don’t know that much about PC’s. Is there anything I can do to fix this. I hope you can help me with this thing. Thanks for your time. James.

Our answer
Hi James. We don’t know your specific problem, but here is something you can try, and since you can’t even open Internet Explorer, you’ll have to do this from Control Panel.

Open Control Panel, then go to Internet Options, click on the Advanced tab. Now look near the bottom of the dialog and click the button labeled “Reset”. This disables or removes your IE add-ins and gives you a fresh start. If there are add-ons you use frequently, you’ll need to reinstall them — but be careful. Have too many add-ons can cause browser problems – and having malware add-ons can cause serious problems. Our advice is to install as few add-ons as possible. While we’re aware there are a plethora of neat-sounding add-ons, only install the ones you really need. And if, after installing an add-on, you notice a problem with your browser, remove or disable it right away.

Of course you could just install Google Chrome and never have to fix Internet Explorer again 🙂

Darcy and TJ. Thank you for telling us we can use Chrome. That was a great suggestion. I am using it and learning how and I do like it. I still have XP and I have no real idea what to replace it with. So I am using Chrome right now. IE 8 was getting sooo bad and so slow too. Closing all the time. Its too bad Microsoft ruined their Windows as it was a stroke of genius. I also use Modzilla but not as much. I wonder though how Microsoft affects these other browsers? When will I start having problems with them too? I understand that Windows is the operating system but don’t understand how it works with other browsers.

I also have a question. How do I remove my emails from Outlook Express and send the info to Gmail? I don’t have very many. I want to start using gmail instead of OE. These changes are kind of hard for me since I used OE and IE for most of the years I have been using the computer. I liked them and hate to give them up. Do I need to send the new address to the people I get emails from? I also use windstream as that is my internet provider and can use their email. Its hard learning the different ways of using email with these 2. So my primary email address is windstream. I think I want to keep it that way but also want to use gmail. Thank you for your answer.
